On the morning of June 17, 2022, at the Office of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Scientific Council met to appraise the report on investigation, detailed assessment; plan for treatment and control of environmental pollution and results of project implementation “Investigate, assess risks, determine the extent of pollution due to residues of pesticides, propose solutions to treat or control pollution for 04 points in Que Phong district, Quy Chau”.
The project is chaired by the Center for Environment and Social Development, in collaboration with the People’s Committees of Que Phong and Quy Chau districts and the Institute of Environmental Technology (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology). After 3 years of implementation, despite many difficulties due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the research team has investigated, surveyed, analyzed, modeled and calculated pollution spread, etc. On that basis, it was proposed to treat or control pollution for 04 points of pesticide storage, in which: there are 2 points in Quy Chau district (1) Block 4, Tan Lac town and (2) Minh Tien village, Chau Hanh commune; and Que Phong district has 2 points: (3) Block 5, Kim Son town and (4) Warehouse 3 Coconut village, Muong Noc commune (now in Block Dua, Kim Son town).
The Scientific Council consists of 11 members, chaired by Dr. Thai Van Nong, Deputy Director of Natural Resources and Environment.
The Council had analyzed and highly appreciated the implementation results and the options proposed by the research team. The Council agreed to accept the project with an average score of 82/100 points.
